Field Archaeologists work on excavations – they dig, record and monitor evidence for the past. But not all archaeologists dig holes. There are many different areas of archaeology in which people work and roughly 5000 people work as archaeologists in the UK today. Burial 1750 is carefully excavated whilst the layers on either side have been stripped off after recording.
